If can be very scary being in a car accident. While no one wants to be involved in a car accident, especially one that involves injuries, it is essential to know what to do to get these injuries treated.

In some cases, you might not experience any physical effects right away. It can often take a few days, weeks, or even months before you notice any symptoms.

Because of this, it's important that you make an appointment here at Health 1st Chiropractic and Rehabilitation with any one of our three Greensboro, NC chiropractors so they can assess any auto accident-related trauma and treat you.

Our chiropractors are:
  • Dr. Roosevelt Smith, Clinic Director - Greensboro

Chiropractic Care for Whiplash
A really common injury following auto accidents is whiplash. This happens when your head is suddenly jarred and sustained backward and forward. Whiplash can destabilize your spine and cause you serious pain and other symptoms. In some whiplash cases, our chiropractor might recommend early mobilization for the first 48 to 72 hours after your auto accident to speed up your recovery.

Our Greensboro chiropractors conduct a physical assessment to decide which treatment is best for your specific injury. They take x-rays to see if there are any injuries to your spine or neck. If there are, they begin working on your spine to put it back in line. Adjustments, also known as chiropractic manipulations, help your body to heal after a certain auto-related injuries.

If you have been in an auto accident, please give us a call at any of our offices at 336-543-2231. We have locations in High Point, NC, Greensboro, NC, Winston Salem, NC and Burlington, NC. Early treatment is your best defense for auto-accident related injuries.

Whiplash Causes and Treatment

Being in a car accident is a very difficult situation on a number of levels. You are worried about your car, worried about taking time off work, but the truth of the matter is, you are least likely to worry about yourself. Neck strain is often just called whiplash and although it’s usually associated with car accidents, any impact or blow that causes your head to jerk forward or backward can cause tendon and muscle tears in your neck. A car accident is a major event, so please contact our doctors at Health of the 1st Triad before any trauma becomes significant.

Sometimes, the pain of whiplash is immediate. In other cases, it can take several hours or a day before your neck begins to hurt. The blow that causes neck strains can sometimes cause a concussion, too. This is why it’s important to seek medical care after a serious accident. Treatment of whiplash depends on the wide variety of symptoms present. Some symptoms include neck pain and stiffness, headache, shoulder pain, dizziness, ringing in the ears, and/or back pain.
